Understanding Cold Press Oil Extraction
Does cold pressing use hexane or other extraction solvents?
Direct Answer
Mechanical cold pressing does not require hexane to extract oil. However, solvent-free extraction alone does not establish organic certification, freedom from contaminants or the safety of the finished product.
Detailed Engineering Analysis
Describe the actual process accurately: suitable seeds are mechanically pressed, and the oil may then be clarified. The condition of the seeds, equipment hygiene, handling and testing still matter. Avoid a broad chemical-free claim because it can imply more than the production method demonstrates. If you sell your own oil brand, keep supplier and batch records so customers can understand the source of the oil and how it was produced.
