Capacity and Oil Recovery
Does 95% extraction efficiency mean 95 kg of oil from 100 kg of seeds?
Direct Answer
No. If extraction efficiency means recovery of the oil contained in the seeds, it is a percentage of that oil, not of the total seed weight. The seller must define the calculation.
Detailed Engineering Analysis
Suppose 100 kg of seeds contains 40 kg of oil. Recovering 95% of that oil would produce 38 kg of crude oil, with further losses possible during clarification. This is an illustrative mass-balance calculation, not verified MMEC performance. Residual oil percentage in cake uses another denominator and cannot simply be subtracted from 100 to find extraction efficiency. Request the original test report, seed analysis and measurement method behind any 95% or 99% claim.
